How can you carve your own niche within the world of art and business? What are the best strategies for success, and what are your intended goals as an artist, designer, curator in the world of business? This course provides students with a general understanding of the methods and theories involved with marketing tactics and strategies. Modes of research and forecasting are discussed, with special attention paid to the assessment of both personal approaches and competitive markets in order to make artists, designers and curators/gallerists unique and sought after within their chosen field. Other topics included are the importance of marketing, the interrelationship of the different phases of marketing, the differences between the marketing of goods and services, wholesaling, retailing, pricing strategies, analysis of markets, marketing budgets and distribution. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.Satisfies: Business Minor req./Liberal Arts elective requirement.
