This course guides students through fiction film theory and practice. Through screenings, discussion, and exercises, students will build upon the storytelling techniques already learned in the program to create content with meaning. Practical workshops in scene and script analysis, story visualization, and directing the cast and crew to bring a story from script to screen cultivate an understanding of how to create a distinctive story with a unique point of view. Students will work in small groups and work as directors through pre-production, production, and post production to make short films. Course objectives: - Understand and expound on the role of the director from script to screen, including pre-production, production, and post production roles. - Employ visualization techniques for production design, storyboarding, floor plans - Utilize and discuss film termonlogy to direct and film on a live set.
