FN117/Studio/01 - Creative Design | Credits 3.00
This course delves deeper into the fundamentals of the creative process and understanding of design language. Building upon the skills acquired in Two Dimensional Design and Three Dimensional Design this course applies those skills utilizing design visualization projects to advance their understanding of both 2D and 3D work. Students explore the design process from idea conception and design development, through to final design presentation. Students may engage in activities to help them consider design through photography, sketching, diagramming, and model making. Using a variety of analog and digital modalities students will place their finished designs into a a real world setting. Through guest lecturers, field trips, class discussions, critiques, and making, students will explore design as a process. Satisfies: Major requirements. Course objectives: - Students will develop an understanding of the basics of the visual design process. - Students will demonstrate the ability to generate multiple solutions to project prompts through thumbnail sketches, diagramming, and model making. - Students will demonstrate the ability to move from conceptual development to iteration to final design presentation. - Students will build capacities for investigation, creative thinking and working across disciplines.
