FDC340/Lecture/01 - Film Producing & Business Development | Credits 6.00
FDC Junior Year Co-op Film majors in the Spring Semester complete a 6 credit, approx. 16 hours-a-week internship with a local production company, film festival, recording studio or equipment rental house for their Producing and Business Development requirement. Through hands-on work in various aspects of the film industry, students will develop essential skills, build a professional network, and gain valuable insights into the film industry. Students work with faculty and the Locks Career Center to secure the position they are most excited about. At the conclusion of the semester, students present a summation of their experience to share with faculty and their cohort. Course Objectives Practical Experience: Students gain practical experience in various aspects of the film industry. Industry Exposure: Students gain valuable insight into the industry’s operations and best practices. Skill Development: Students will acquire and enhance essential skills related to pre-production, production, and post-production processes. Problem-Solving Skills: Students will learn to adapt and problem-solve in a fast-paced, creative environment, preparing them for the challenges they may encounter in their future careers. Synthesis: Through contemplation of their internship, students synthesize their experience and reflect on what they’ve learned, where they can improve and the impact the internship had on their own practice
