This course concentrates on new media and experimental film history, theory, and practice. Students will develop and uncover their own perspective and voice for these alternative forms of film and multimedia art based on screenings, discussion, and readings related to alternative new media & technologies, avante garde, and experimental filmmaking, including installation-based work. A concentration on underrepresented filmmakers is emphasized. The course encourages collaboration with Animation & Game Arts, Photography, Illustration, and other programs’ students and faculty. Students will create short projects. (Major Requirement)
