2026 Spring Main Session
FA322/Studio/02 - Junior Studio II
|
Credits
3.00
Junior Studio is designed as a two-semester sequence and is required of all Fine Arts majors. The second semester helps students develop their work around a specific focus and explore the interrelatedness of concept, media, and context. All projects will involve research, planning through written proposals and preliminary drawings or models, and experimentation. Students will be encouraged to work in a variety of media, making use of the departmental and workshop facilities necessary to realize each project. Written and visual research will be assigned in addition to studio work, with particular emphasis placed on issues relevant to contemporary art practice. Field trips to cultural events, museums, and galleries will be part of the studio experience and visiting artists and critics will provide additional perspectives throughout the term. Participation in and full attendance at the end-of-semester Fine Arts Final Critiques is mandatory. Based on the scope of a project or level of study, there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.
