2026 Spring Main Session
AGA329/Studio/01 - Character Animation | Credits 3.00
In this course students will further develop their animated character performance by investigating the internal life of a character through analysis of text, subtext, and personal and cultural context, identifying motivation and psychological imperatives. They will then explore ways to visually express the character's interior; practicing their own methods of expression, honing observational skills, analyzing expression in others, and examining other animated performances. Study of human and animal physiology, proportion, and movement will enable the application of acting choices to both human and non-human characters. Integral to the goals of the course, students will build confidence in performance as a method for experimenting with character choices, acting together in a team environment as well as recording their own reference footage for group analysis.
