2026 Spring Main Session
PT383/Studio/01 - Painting the Figure:Contextual Approach | Credits 3.00
This course investigates how artists have considered the human figure as a site of formal exploration, psychological depth, and material inquiry. Emphasizing the materiality of paint, its viscosity, transparency, and capacity to evoke flesh, touch, and presence, students will examine how the medium itself can embody the physicality of the human body. Throughout the semester, students will engage with a range of approaches, expanding their understanding of how painting can both represent and reconstruct the human form as a site of identity, perception, and embodied experience.
