AEGR606/Lecture/01 - Intersectionality in Visual Arts Curricu | Credits 3.00
This course explores the intersections of theory and philosophy in and through models of visual arts curricula in PreK-12, museum and community based education. Topics such as Critical Disability Studies, Feminist Philosophy, Queer Theory, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Trauma Informed Pedagogy, Social Emotional Learning, and Reality Pedagogy will be explored to offer a foundation for upcoming thesis work. Students will investigate both historical and contemporary research on the above topics, and critique both commonalities and divergences of their ideologies and practices. Students will deconstruct examples of visual arts curricula in PreK-12, museum and community based education to discover ways in which intersectionality impacts aspects of teaching and learning, student growth and assessment, and formation of personal pedagogy.
