2026 Fall Main Session
FA321/Studio/02 - Junior Studio | Credits 3.00
Junior Studio is designed as a two-semester sequence and is required of all Fine Arts majors. The first semester gives juniors the opportunity to build on prior learning and to work with increased independence across a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and experimental media. Individual choices of media, execution, and concept are encouraged through a series of open-ended assignments designed to invite a wide range of responses. Junior Studio is intended to expand the vocabulary of conceptual ideas and formal skills while fostering a deeper understanding of contemporary art. The course places a strong emphasis on establishing a rigorous, active, and reflective relationship between the student and the development of their artistic voice as expressed through their studio practice. Participation in and full attendance at the end-of-semester Fine Arts Final Critiques is a mandatory requirement. Based on the scope of a student’s project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.
