Do artists produce their best work by repeating a successful formula? A strong artistic practice requires constant growth, which occurs through research, hard work, experimentation, risk-taking, and a willingness to fail. This course is designed to challenge students to step outside their comfort zones, explore new subject matter, and experiment with different media and approaches to their work. A series of project-based assignments will encourage the exploration of new ideas and methodologies, fostering the development of each student's conceptual thinking, philosophical perspective, and unique artistic voice. Regular group and individual critiques of finished and in-progress works will help students understand, assess, and accelerate the progress of their individual work and overall growth. Based on the scope of a student’s project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.
