This course introduces students to the foundations of cinematography and lighting for films and series. While studying the history and evolution of cinematography and learning techniques employed by masters of light to create atmospheres and impressions, students will learn to model and mold with light and camera. Through screenings, analysis, and workshops, students will build an understanding of composition, lighting, exposure, movement, and color theory while also learning about lighting instruments, lenses, sensors, and other camera equipment. Students will complete multiple assignments collaboratively within their cohort.
