This course presents a survey of Western architecture, furniture and interior design from the ancient world to the twentieth century. Non-Western work is also studied as it influences and changes the path of Western design. This course includes the ever-changing nature of the application of design principles, the importance of historical context in which the designer lives and works, the technological advances that have influenced design history and exposure to examples of design excellence. Based on the scope of a student’s project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies: Major Requirement. Satisfies: Elective Requirement for non-majors.
