PH205/Lecture/01 - History of Photography | Credits 3.00
This course traces the development of the photographic medium, from its inception as a visualization tool in the form of a camera obscura and lucida, to its multifaceted and complex role in contemporary art and popular culture. The primary focus of the course is developing visual literacy and familiarity with photography’s evolution as an art form. Through slide presentations, readings, and class discussions the class will examine movements, trends, technologies, concepts and important figures of the medium from prior to 1839 to the present.
