3D Apparel Design is a course that provides an in-depth introduction to 3D design. Using 3D software, students will learn essential skills and techniques to create realistic virtual garments, further developing their skills from Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop while adding to their traditional design process. Students will become familiar with the software interface, tools, and workspace layout, mastering garment creation from scratch, including tops, bottoms, dresses, outerwear, etc. They will explore fabric simulations, understand digital pattern making, and sizing for various body types. Additionally, they will learn to apply textures, prints, and materials realistically, utilize rendering techniques for photorealistic images, and employ animation capabilities to simulate garment movement. Students will learn successful communication for quality assurance issues to vendors and manufacturing making them more competitive in the global fashion industry. A basic understanding of illustration is recommended for non-fashion majors.
