FA322 - Junior Studio II
This course is designed to help individual students to develop their work around a specific focus, and to explore the inter-relatedness of concept, media and context. Projects include research, planning through written proposals and preliminary drawings or models, historical research and experimentation. Students will be encouraged to work in a variety of media and make use of any departmental and workshop facilities necessary to realize each project. Written and visual research will be assigned in addition to studio projects produced throughout the semester. Particular emphasis will be on issues relevant to contemporary art practice. Work produced will be subject to regular individual and group critique throughout the semester. Juniors are required to participate in the end of semester departmental critiques. The Junior Studio student will be encouraged to continue the development of her individual voice begun in the Fall Jr. Studio. In addition to working with course Faculty, visiting artist talks and visits will provide additional points of view. Field trips to cultural events, museums and or galleries will be part of the studio experience. Participation in and full attendance of the end-of-semester Fine Art Final Critiques is a mandatory requirement. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies: Major Requirement
