Basic small-scale construction principles and building codes are covered. Construction materials including wood, masonry, steel and concrete are examined, along with the site and the building shell. Interior construction details, such as wall types (exterior walls, interior partitions), floors and flooring systems, ceilings and wall and ceiling openings (doors and windows and skylights) are drawn and discussed. Mechanical systems are introduced. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.
