EVFT112 - Fashion Textiles
This course explores the qualities and properties of fashion fabrics. Students become familiar with specific styles, techniques, and construction of a wide range of market fabrics through investigating fiber/yarn/textile characteristics, interdependence, and relation to end-use. Projects include developing a swatch book for later reference, sewing experiments manipulating a variety of fabrics, and designing a garment based on best use of fabric. Participants gain an understanding of the creative use of fabric in clothing design, textile terminology, production processes, and practices in the fashion industry. Prerequisites: Fundamental Sewing Techniques or equivalent experience and Fashion Studies Foundation.
