FA350 - Idea Lab
Do artists produce their best work by repeating a successful formula? A strong artistic practice requires constant growth, which occurs as the result of research, hard work, experimentation, risk-taking and a willingness to fail. The purpose of this course is to challenge the student to get outside of her comfort zone, to take on new subject matter and to experiment with new media and ways of approaching her work. A series of project-based assignments will set the stage for exploring new subject matter and methodologies towards the development of each student's conceptual thinking, philosophical ideas and unique voice. Regular group and individual critiques of finished and in-progress works will aid each student to understand, assess and accelerate the progress of her individual work and overall growth. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies: Major Requirement
