FD200 - Digital Fashion Design
The course introduces the computer as a creative tool for fashion design students. The Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and Illustrator, will be taught with an emphasis on the way these programs are used in the fashion industry. Students will learn to use the tools of Photoshop to scan and manipulate images through weekly assignments. Concept boards and original digital fabric designs will be created using these skills. Illustrator will be introduced as a means to develop a library of flat, technical sketches. This course will be taught in the computer lab, however, initial sessions will include work in the fashion studio such as learning to draw flat sketches by hand and the construction of concept boards with actual cutting and pasting as an introduction to the digital methods. Due to the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies.
