GD303 - Type III: Screen Typography
Desinging fro the Screen will focus on creating effective typography for on-screen applications; websites for computer displays, interactive graphics for computers of kiosks, hand-held devices, digital readers, etc. Course studies will explore the potentials and challenges that do not exist in traditional printed media i.e., evaluating fonts for digital clarity, learning to shape meaning and content for elastic formats, enabling content flow during the interactive experience through consistent navigation and information hierarchies and controlling typography though cascading style sheets. Following a solid grounding in static explorations, the elements of motion and sound will be added to enhance the meaning and mood of the screen experience. Based on the scope of a student’s project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies Major Requirement.
