IL318 - Professional Development
The internship prep course prepares the student for the 240 hour required internship that usually takes place in the summer between junior and senior year. Preparation will include guidelines for students to develop critical professional skills, including job research and evaluation of appropriate opportunities, networking, writing resumes and cover letters, preparing a portfolio, practicing interviewing techniques and conducting a placement search. Relevant networking opportunities with guests from the field will occur to acquaint students with career possibilities and professional expectations including if appropriate field trips. The signed internship contract must be on file with the Career Center before the 240 hour normally six weeks internship begins to accrue. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies: Major Requirement.
