2024 Spring Main Session
FA522/Studio/01 - Thesis | Credits 6.00
The Fine Arts Thesis course represents the culmination of four years of study. Each student is expected to create a focused and in-depth body of studio work, which is developed in conjunction with the research and production of the written thesis. In recognition of the transition from student to artist this process represents, students will be working largely in a self-directed manner, in consultation with the Thesis Faculty and an advisor of their own choosing. This work should reflect mature and independent decisions made regarding content and means of expression. Students work in their individual studio spaces. The senior Thesis is composed of the studio work, which is presented to the Department at the end of semester critiques, as well as the written thesis document, which defines the goals and artistic philosophy of the student. The research for this paper and the direction of the thesis studio work begins in Critical Discourse and continues through Senior Studio. Participation in and full attendance of the end-of-semester Fine Art Final Critiques is a mandatory requirement. Based on the scope of a student's project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies: Major Requirement
