This course is an introduction to digital image making using Photoshop and digital drawing using Illustrator. Two semester-long projects will be developed for each software package. The student learning Photoshop will gain expertise in importing imagery and editing and utilizing advanced compositing tools. Evidence of technical and compositional mastery will be demonstrated in the final project. A similar assignment will be completed for Illustrator exhibiting command of drawing, rendering and compositional and narrative clarity. Based on the scope of a project or level of study there may be additional costs for materials and supplies. Satisfies Major Requirement for Graphic Design, Illustration and Interactive & Motion Arts and Studio Elective for non-majors.
